Get register to learn this historical art form of making Dorset Singleton & Cartwheel Buttons. This beginner level class will be instructed by Lynnelle Peavy.
Each participant will learn a quick history about Dorset buttons.
Button 1 - Dorset Singleton will be the first button students make and complete. See below.
Button 2: Dorset Cartwheel (aka cross wheel) will be the second button to create. See below.
Students will learn to:
a) Cast on, cover the ring with a buttonhole stitch, how to end the buttonhole stitch, slicking and laying spokes;
b) the weaving process for this button. Rounding backstitch - over one; under two.
Each student will be able to work on 2 buttons in class and possible begin a third.
Class will be approximately four hours and some may finish early. Familiarity with the following stitches is helpful but not necessary: buttonhole, backstitch, and running stitch.
All materials will be provided. Minimum of 6 participants required for this class to take place. Limit 10.
