They have two layers of hair: guard hair, the outer one which is coarse and straight; and the undercoat, which is soft and fine.  Bactrian camels face freezing winters and scorching summers, but their undercoat offers exceptional insulation, keeping them warm during the cold months and cool during the warm season. Since camel hair naturally contains oils, the yarn may initially feel a bit firmer, which makes knitting a bit more relaxed.
